STEP 7 - MICE

broken image

We’re all familiar with that one particularly icky, furry, four-legged pest that is hard to get rid of – the mouse. Mice can squeeze their bodies through the tiniest openings, are fast and low to the ground, and carry nasty diseases that can be transmitted to humans through their bites and droppings.

It is important to check any openings, including those under porches, in the wall, near windows, and the corners of outside walls. These areas need to be cleaned free of debris such as food, clothing, tissues, or papers before sealing. It is next to impossible to find every area where a mouse may enter, but sealing off as many as you can find will give you a huge advantage.

Like ants and spiders, mice do NOT like Peppermint Essential Oil. Spraying areas as mentioned above is helpful, but consider adding baseboards. Placing Peppermint cotton balls in heat vents, under the stove, behind the refrigerator, or beneath the dishwasher is also beneficial.

Mice are also not fond of the Cleansing Blend. Combine the Cleansing Blend and Peppermint on your cotton balls, or try this recipe for a spray:

MICE REPELLENT SPRAY RECIPE

  • 1 tbsp. Castile Soap
  • 1 tbsp. Cayenne Pepper
  • 25 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 25 drops Cleansing Blend
  • 8 c. Water

Combine all ingredients and spray areas mentioned above and around the outside foundation of the home. If used frequently, until there are no more signs of mice, this spray will disrupt the pheromone trails that mice like to follow and help prevent them from entering your space.
